To test the detection distance of LaserWarn, an open-path gas detection system based on QCL technology, Radiusen designed and customized a UAV-carrying platform. Since UAVs for this test are required to be highly steerable, stable, and traceable, Radiusen designed and developed specific test equipment such as hollow retroreflectors.

The test method is placing the device host in a fixed position, moving the signal mirror from near to far, and recording the test distance. After debugging the optical path to obtain a stable signal, the polystyrene sample which comes with the QCL monitoring system is used for the test.

The picture above is about the outdoor detection distance test and the red circle indicates the UAV.
